Fattoria del Pino

Jessica Pellegrini started Fattoria del Pino in 2010 yet already she is talked about by peers as one of the top wines to seek out.

Jessica Pellegrini started Fattoria del Pino in 2010 with 5 hectares of land that her family bought on the special hillside 'cru' of Montosoli in Montalcino (think of it as a top vineyard in Burgundy or Barolo), yet already she is talked about by peers as one of the top wines to seek out. Interest also rose in the wines when Fernando Pardini of 'Slow Wine' described her as the female counterpart of Il Marroneto, a producer that is getting a lot of plaudits and something of a cult following.

Montosoli is regarded by many Italian wine critics as the elegant soul of Montalcino. Surrounded by forests, with red and white marl and clay on ancient sandstone full of seashells, these wines are recognisable for their high acidity, lower alcohol and fine mineral tannins. Current top names include Le Ragnaie, Altesino, Baricci, Canalicchio di Sopra and Il Marroneto.

Jessica's wines are of the elegant school (you could say old school, but then they have more charm and are better than the old school) with silky tannins and finesse, floaty fruit, like a Burgundy style of Brunello di Montalcino, but with flavours of Sangiovese, that can age well. The wines are aged in large foudres.

There is no discount code for these wines. This is a pre-arrival offer. Once they have arrived in March, the Brunello 2014 will be £65 and the Rosso 2014 Jeccardo will be £44.
