It is urban legend in the Swig office that a long, long time ago (possibly far, far away) a Swig employee managed to abstain for an entire Dry January. Given the lack of evidence, I have a sneaking suspicion that this might be codswallop, but for those who have managed to slog through Dry January, and even for those who haven’t, why not celebrate the end of the coldest, wettest, and most dreary month of the year with a glass of one of Swig’s most loved wines.
From the beautiful Lavacchio estate that champions organic farming and the organic lifestyle! The nose is earthy at first, but then reveals sweet and sour black cherries surrounded by fresh flower petals, wild herbs and a touch of mint. You could almost be walking along the Tuscan hills in a late autumn breeze, surveying the beautiful landscape - we wish!
While this is always a Swig staple, and an absolute favourite of the team, it is important to highlight just how wonderful the 2014 is. This stunning vintage has added lots of supple and sweet fruit making it dangerously smooth and drinkable for a really great price!
Over the years that we've worked with the wonderful team led by Faye Lottero at Lavacchio, they have never ceased to impress us. Not only with their wines, which do continue to go from strength to strength, but also with their commitment to the Lavacchio estate, and the diversity of produce they can offer - all made with the greatest of respect to nature. For them, organic farming isn't just a means of differentiating their wines, but a way of life. If you visit, and you really should, their farm shop offers natural produce not just from their estate but their neighbours as well. That commitment to their environment and those they share it with pervades everything they do. And it comes through in the wines as well. These are harmonious, traditional wines that shine their very brightest with good food and good friends.
