Using grapes that have been partially dried on mats from harvest until January and aged for 30 months in French and American 500l oak barrels, we think this is one of the most complex wines produced in Italy. It is not like the massive more porty versions of Amarone, which can also be lovely, rather it shows real elegance. As it ages you really get a sense the terroir and the grapes of Valpolicella, which can be masked by the sweetness and power of the more powerful, 'modern' styles.

Tasting Notes

Beautiful notes of sweet cherry and intermingled with slightly bitter herb and dried fruit. Perfumed on the nose and palate, with lovely elegance and fiinesse.

Press Note:

jancisrobinson.co,: Youthful mid ruby. Savoury, minerally cherry nose with peppery hints. Savoury ripe maraschino cherry with savoury tannins. Long and mouth-filling – but contained. 17 points Drink 2018-2024
