SPECIAL 12 BOTTLE PRICE FOR NOVEMBER MONEY WEEK WINE CLUB - ONE MONTH ONLY 'There is a veritable ocean of Grüner out there and while it has certainly caught the eye of the UK consumer, I doubt that the average wine drinker realises that there is a gulf in quality from the lean, stripped, pithy wines bumping along the bottom of the wine pond and the serenely, gliding, stunners on the surface. A heavenly example of Austria’s most famous grape, it reeks class on the nose, palate and finish. It is Zen-like, captivating and refreshing and it doesn’t even break into a trot on the palate, such is its composure and confidence. A must for elite aperitif wine work!' Matthew Jukes, Money Week

Tasting Notes

I love this wine. I came across it in a room full of Austrian whites and thought it was the best value in the room yet still full of Gruner character - but this grape has become so hot, everyone wants it, you can easily spend £20 plus for a similar example. With a verve that starts at the beginning and takes you to the end of every sip, keeping it lively and refreshing, and its lovely mouthfilling fruit with flavours of white currants and citrus and then classic Gruner white pepper notes it's the perfect wine to have in your fridge, and will be far more interesting than your average daily sipper. Fresh and fruity, with aromas reminiscent of white currant, citrus fruits and "veltliner-pfefferl" or white pepper. The flavours on the palate are consistent with the aromas and the finish is fresh and crisp. Pair with: If the season is right, a grüner like this reaches a peak of heavenly perfection served with white asparagus spears with a mustardy Hollandaise. If that's not in season, weep a little lament, and then consider with upmost seriousness the possibility of marrying it with sushi or sashimi, not forgetting the wasabi.
