Tasting Notes
We are used to a slightly older version of this Ar Guentota, but this bright and utterly charming vintage has captured our hearts. Loads of blackcurrant, damson and sloes wrap around that vanilla and nutmeg spice. The tannins have a little grip providing texture that helped it match perfectly to the barbecued sirloin we paired it with at the weekend. Made from vines that are over 100 years old and aged for a year in french oak then a year in bottle, the utmost care has gone into this delightfully classy iteration of a Swig favourite.
More Info
One thing that always shines when we pour the Ar Guentota for anyone is the sheer pedigree of this wine. It is made by the legendary Bertrand Bourdil, winner of not one, but two 100 point scores during his time at Chateau Mouton Rothschild. Then there are the 118 year old vines from the best sites, up in the hills above Mendoza, high above the mass production plateau.
