Tasting Notes
It can be sipped chilled after dinner on its own, perhaps with a few strawberries or slices of peach or roasted pineapple or a fine fruit tart (apple or apricot). It's also delicious with pate, scallops, duck with mango, vegetables with a confit of fennel and sweet potatoes, as well as blue cheese such as roquefort or beenleigh blue, and epoisses, when not too runny.
More Info
Chateau Lafon sits within the Yquem enclave of vineyards. Lafon is made from these vines, as well as another in Sauternes, next to the best site of Chateau Guiraud, and others spread in the nearby 'climats' of Bommes, Fargues and Preignac. Yields are the most feeble in the world of wine and the effort required to make a single bottle, which can including passing through the vineyards as many as six times, as they do at Lafon, in order to only gather the noble rot-affected grapes, often far outweighs the income.
