Really charming. Almost like a cross between apple or pear tarte tatin with a good dollop of creme fraiche, and some zestiness too. Very bright acidity on the midpalate, with blanched hazelnuts, honey, an energising dash of passionfruit and spring water. Taught and very long.
Following a passion is what landed Ben Flint with 6 hectares under-vine, a state-of-the-art winery in the beautiful Earsham area of Norfolk, and now leading the English premium wine sense. Quitting his career in the IT sector saw Ben move to Suffolk and undertake a 3-year Oenology and Viticulture at Plumpton College, upping sticks to Beaujolais where he lived and breathed winemaking for years before coming home to start making super premium English wines that are rather hard to get hold of.
FROM THE PRESS
“Melon, green apple, delicate and creamy fruit aroma, smells more Pinot Blanc than Chardonnay. Really pretty nose with a hint of white blossom. Bright and equally pretty on the palate, apple-scented. Perfect aperitif. ”Julia Harding MW - jancisrobinson.com
“Linear with a steely core and indeed flinty minerality, but it's also deeply soused in lime and headily fragrant citrus peel. Bay leaf and green cardamom shift through the fresh-apple fruit, making it elegantly herbaceous. Above all, the wine is juicy and true, delivering a full mouthful of sappy pleasure.”Tamlyn Currin - jancisrobinson.com
