Made from air dried Chenin Blanc grapes, this really is a ravishing straw wine and utterly irresistible. The nose is a complex, enticing blend of apricots, baked peaches, orange marmalade, tarte tartin, honeysuckle and wood spice. Dizzyingly intense, unctuousand like apricot nectar on the palate with a wonderfully cleansing acidity and a finish that goes on for minutes. Wow!
'The 2018 is a touch richer than the 2017 due to the drought. The flavor profile is quite normal - marmalade, almonds, marzipan, dried apricots, and ginger. The 2018 has more intensity all round - weight, aromatics and also acidity, so just a more engagingexperience!' Chris Mullineux
FROM THE PRESS
“The Mullineux use two vineyards to make this world-class straw wine, which "have botrytis and lots of malic acid". Dried on shade cloth, rather than straw, it's incredibly sweet at 305 grams of sugar, with exotic nectarine and guava flavours, hints of toast and coconut, a volatile lift and wonderful freshness and length. 2020-2030.”97 Points, Tim Atkin MW
“Beginning with aromas of golden raisins, the 2018 Straw Wine Has an amazing floral focus and an emphasis on the stone fruits with peaches and apricots. On the palate, the wine is unctuously sweet, with the purity of varietal characteristics, expressing citrus marmalades, pineapple chutney, yet it still manages to capture the phenolics of Chenin Blanc. The finish lingers minutes after, revealing additional nuances of this elegant yet powerfully precise wine. Yum! Drink now-2045.”94+ Points, The Wine Advocate
