The first thing that hits you is that lovely nutty, toasty, beurre noisette oak that wraps around the white peaches and cream core. Once you've managed to stop inhaling this delicious scent and take a sip (or two) you are delighted with a baked peach tart in buttery shortcrust pasty swamped in vanilla custard. Layer upon layer of stone fruit and baking spice deliciousness. Amazing wine. Very few white Burgundies last this long, let alone well.
Finding that something special in Burgundy can sometimes feel like a monumental quest and never more than at the moment with frosts, hail and record low production thwarting the last two vintages. In the wake of the devastation, we have never been more grateful to have the rock that is Domaine Thibert. Seemingly oblivious to the chaos around them Christophe and Sandrine continue to deliver stunning wines that over deliver time and time again.
FROM THE PRESS
“Pale yellow. Very ripe but reticent aromas of citrus fruits, stone and menthol. This, too, is very tightly wound and penetrating, dry and classic, with its lemon, pineapple and mineral flavors calling for patience. Impressively pure but Christophe Thibert says it's less pristine and minerally than usual in this very warm drought vintage. Incidentally, the Thiberts control a full hectare in Vignes Blanches, making them one of the biggest players in this soon-to-be premier cru in Fuissé.”Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com on the 2015
