Oh boy are we excited to introduce you to the wines of Danbury Ridge! Their 2018 Chardonnay has quite a Chablis-esque nose on the first sniff, which broadens nicely - hawthorn blossom, confit lemon, mandarin and a hint of peach and shortbread. Sensational palate, lifted and with such oomph, with the lightest butter note and a hint of tropical fruit. So appealing, finishes long and lightly chalky. Max 6 BOTTLES per customer
Located in the warmest, dried area of the UK, the first vineyards were planted at Danbury Ridge in 2014, and 2018 is their debut vintage. And as Jancis Robinson said, "what a debut!" The focus here has, and always will be still wines, and with the climate they have, and the ripeness levels the grapes are reaching, one can certainly see why. When Swig was founded, who knew one day we would be talking about the brilliance of Essex terroir! We firmly believe that Danbury Ridge have raised the bar exponentially for English still wine, and we're so excited to join them at the beginning of their journey.
