That sort of magical Burgundy that fills you with utter whimsy, reminds you what you love about wine, and makes you think it could be twice the price. Youthful nose of purple flowers; violets and lavender with some good earthy notes as well. According to Romain Taupenot, “2014 is about energy, even more so than 2015. It’s a more classic Burgundy vintage, and the wines will show great complexity in the future.”
Lovely palate – lithely textured with great fruit and secondary integration – cool Pinot with a moreish, delicious crunch to it. Going back to this after some grander and far more expensive bottles it was extraordinary how well it stood up, still showing gloriously and more than holding its own.
FROM THE PRESS
“ Smoky, wild aromas of raspberry, strawberry, game and earth. Then juicy and sappy but edge-free in the mouth, with firm underlying minerality giving a penetrating quality to its red fruit flavours. Another very successful village wine with enticing inner-mouth perfume and noteworthy persistence. ”Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com
