A beautiful, earthy and spiced nose. You get graphite with the cassis. The tannins are nicely integrated and feel sleek. A grand, glorious wine indeed. Cassis, dark plum and brooding black cherry, with grilled herbs and spice characters amongst it. Superbly integrated oak enhances the depth of flavour and feeling of things. This is extremely fine and super wine.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2466/1541/files/BC_Upload_659d66fa-8224-4c11-9aec-853187826e05.jpg?v=1777019949
boekenhoutskloof-noble-late-harvest-semillon-2022-37-5cl-org
Boekenhoutskloof Noble Late Harvest Semillon Half Bottle 2022 (37.5cl)

"Boekenhoutskloof is best known for its dry Semillon, but the sweet, botrytis-affected version can be every bit as good. Stylishly wooded in new French oak, the 2022 is like a cross between a Barsac and a Jurançon sticky, with wonderful citrus peel, honey and crème caramel flavours, a waft of cinnamon spice and near-perfect balance between fresh acidity and 184 grams of residual sugar. 2026-35" - 98 pts Tim Atkin MW

#Tasting#

Made by Gottfried Mocke, winemaker at Boekenhoutskloof since 2016, named by Tim Atkin MW as his winemaker of the year in 2021. This is made exclusively from plantings on their Swartland property Goldmine, that borders the Mullineux's Roundstone property just outside Riebeek Kasteel. Gottfried explained that the fruit from here is amazing, and the vines have come of age. The wine that he started making experimental quantities of a few years ago has certainly shifted up a couple of gears. They can foot stomp and micro-vinify in separate foudres, and do everything you'd do in a small Domaine.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2466/1541/files/BC_Upload_05b4aeee-dc7e-4663-ba2c-08bd8ea0f45c.jpg?v=1777020537
