Tasting Notes
If any wine can be described as having 'animal magnetism', then this has to be it. At Swig HQ, it unleashed a tirade of "oohs" , "aahhs" and "wows" from the first tease of its wonderful, high-toned Italian aromas. It transports you straight to the heart of Tuscany. 100% Sangiovese from one of our favourite Chianti producer's best vineyards. A first release, but we reckon this is the beginning of a fantastic new story in Chianti, and it could be one of the best single site Sangiovese wines in Chianti.
More Info
Jewel-bright red and purple fruits, leafy blackcurrant and warm tomato skins combine on the nose, which is attractively high-toned and reminiscent of the heady rush you get when you open a tin of blackcurrant pastilles for the first time. The palate is suave and velvety in the way that meticulously hand-crafted wines can be, balancing fine, powdery tannins with mellow, autumnal fruit (figs, damsons, apricots), the perkiness of strawberry juice and dark cherry acidity to give it vitality.
