I've always loved 'Cedro'. But this is a new level. It's made only from Tuscan varieties. You get a lovely aroma of Sangiovese - cherries and ripe fruits, warmth, some herbs and earth. It's wonderful to have this much typicity, but also generosity, without it being in new oak or being overworked. It's such a pleasure when you raise a glass of wine to your nose and it fills you with good aromas and a sense of joy. It really does. I'm very impressed. Bravo!
From the beautiful Lavacchio estate that champions organic farming and the organic lifestyle! The nose is earthy at first, but then reveals sweet and sour black cherries surrounded by fresh flower petals, wild herbs and a touch of mint. You could be walking along the Tuscan hills in a late autumn breeze, surveying the beautiful landscape. Those pretty floral notes are just beginning to really express themselves.
FROM THE PRESS
“Lavacchio's Chiantis are some of the most perfumed, flinty and refined of all. This Rufina estate is fast becoming one of the best sources for affordable Chiantis that really speak of sangiovese and the cooler Rufina terroir... I found it hard not to guzzle the whole bottle down by myself. Made from organic grapes.”Ian D'Agata, Vinous on a previous vintage
“A Tuscan wine estate with a difference.... Lavacchio is one of the best in the region.”Rose Murray Brown MW
