Tasting Notes
Some of you may remember the illustrious, old-vine Kalleske '12 that graced the Swig offerings many moons ago and the most patient may still have some in their cellars. It was the fruit from this vineyard, planted in 1905, that was always sold to Penfold’s for their famous wine ’Grange’ (Australia’s most expensive and ageworthy wine), until Tony Kalleske took over the reins to see what he could do with it himself. Over the past couple of years we have kept an eye on this innovative producer, dipping our pipette into the tasting barrel from time-to-time, and have fallen head over heels for the 'Eduard' Shiraz 2017.
More Info
Kalleske's ungrafted, dryfarmed centenerian vines are the absolute best, low-yielding, small-berried beauties South Australia has to offer. This is without doubt another show-stopping icon in the making. For lovers of big, complex, concentrated Aussie Shiraz, this really is the motherlode! We think in this wine you smell and taste some of that character that you can in the great Grange
