Simultaneously quite serious yet also, very drinkable, it's such a pretty colour – cherries and fresh cut hay, a bit peppery, smoky and with a sprinkling of celery salt. Fruit and flavour-packed, like a big wine packed into a light wine, and with such fine acid with just the right amount of tartness. Just 10% alcohol, but certainly packs a big punch of flavour!
Made by Joseph Schenter (who Swiglet Imogen worked harvest with in 2018) and Julia Nather, Nibiru is so named for the planet that travels through our solar system every 3600 years, and is the only planet that travels the opposite way around the sun to the rest of our planets. It's this "going against the tide" (or the planets) that resonated strongly with Joseph and Julia, reflecting their philosophy and the style of their wines. They're based close to the Czech border, in the northern Kamptal, farming 4ha of vines organically and regeneratively, close to Joseph's family farm. We love them for their honesty and integrity and their dedication to better farming, to working towards creating a diverse ecosystem, optimising soil health and biodiversity, and for their delicious wines! Look out for their high quality grape juice too, it's the ultimate alcohol-free option for non-drinkers!
