Tasting Notes
Pulling this from the case that had arrived the other day, it was still cool from the warehouse. I couldn’t resist. I opened it. Wow! The nose! It has that wonderful aroma that only white riojas seem to have, some salted almond, creamed hazelnut, and dried pineapple and quince, and a touch of a Victorian office from the way the oak blends in. With all the fabulous aromas, it has a lovely deep wine texture. It’s solid and satisfying. This I put down to it not having spent too long in wood. Just 3 months, in fact.

I had a glass, and absolutely loved it. It’s the total opposite of a bland Pinot Grigio, but for a similar price. I’ve been drinking a small glass as an aperitif with manchego, olives, saucisson and nuts. It’s been joyful. And it’s only 12.5% alcohol, like Gravonia, which it reminds me of - although it is not the same. I’ve been saving a sip with whatever dinner is and found it handles most foods - see some ideas below.. Last night, I was down to the last glass, and saved it for after dinner (with a bit of manchego) and it reminded me a bit of what I can only describe as dry Sauternes-like aromas, crossed with a bit of old school white burgundy. I loved the experience.
