Gorgeous white Burgundy from a small vineyard right along from Grand Cru Corton-Charlemagne. It's intense and wonderful, rich and rich, but fresh and refreshing, and wonderful with full-bodied fish and lobster, or similar. It's another wine that's a great value. Compare that to the neighbouring white Cortons that are rarely less than £80 these days.
Maratray-Dubrueil is just to the North of the City of Beaune, in village of Ladoix-Serrigny, and looks towards the Grand Cru hillside of Corton, and is run by a brother and sister team, Francois-Xavier and Marie-Madeleine. They are real overachievers. We love their Ladoix 1er Crus, which are such well-sited vineyards, as well as their Chorey-Les-Beaune Les Bons Ores red Burgundy, which has always had beautiful flavours and character.
