We’re all big fans of wines that you can drink now, but will lay down nicely and really deliver more complexity and excitement in years to come. Add to this one more requirement, which takes us into holy grail territory - a sensible price. But when does a recently released quality Burgundy ever meet all of these? Rarely ever.

Burgundy of this quality and price doesn't come around often. It is from a vineyard in the area of Ladoix – just to the north of Beaune and across the road from the hill of Corton. The 2018 already jumps out the glass with sous-bois (the forest floor) intermingling with raspberry fruit and elegant spice. You can sip the Chorey now with cod, salmon, pasta dishes and even fillet steak – and continue to do and be just as pleased for the next 5 to 6 years.
