Tasting Notes
Rhône meet the Languedoc in this ethereally lovely red blend, Robin’s de facto house red. Think along the lines of a classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape with a soupcon more freshness – a factor of Mas Brunet’s location in windswept limestone plateau of the Terrasses de Larzac.
More Info
With a structure that matches Côtes-du-Rhône but the prettiest of delicate nuances, Mas Brunet is a firm favourite of the Swig team. Based just north of Montpellier and round the corner from Mas de Daumas Gassac (the Lafite of the Languedoc), the hot Southern French climate and dry summers make it tricky to retain a fresh finesse in Rhone varietals. Yet the Mas Brunet Cuvée du Mazet manages to jump straight out of the glass with bright violety peppery soft fresh fruit, and nuances of mountain herbs and spice. This welcoming style of wine simply lives to please. It is a definite pasta wine. Or steak. Or fish. Or curry. Or cheese. It is the ultimate red wine for all food, people and life!
