Very zingy and striking- white pepper, green apple and crushed stones on the nose, with a racy palate loaded with wet river stones, notes of greengage, pear skin, straw, gentle yeasty notes and curry leaf. Pronounced acidity makes it almost tingle in the mouth and ensures a long and intense finish.
The Hidden Treasures project sees the highly talented Roland Verlich of Moric Wines seeks out fellow passionate winemakers producing wines with indigenous varieties from extraordinary terroir. The 2019 collaboration is with Villa Tolnay who are located on the northern shore of Lake Balaton in Hungary. Soils here are volcanic and like all Moric wines, it's produced with minimal intervention so as to allow the truest expression of this wild terroir and the indigenous grape varieties.
FROM THE PRESS
“Very striking dried-herb, fennel and white-tea nose. Ripe and juicy, in spite of the light-footed palate, but with striking wild-herb and mineral intensity at the long, structured finish. Drink or hold. 93 points.”Stuart Piggot, Jamessuckling.com
