Sette Cieli is becoming more and more well known for its top draw Super Tuscans, Scipio and Indaco, which are increasingly compared to Sassicaia and the likes. We love to show them blind, just to show how good they are compared to the icons of the region.
There is however another wine in their portfolio that is moving up the charts, which if you had a category for best new comer and best value in Bolgheri, I think this would be in top spot.
Drinking 'Noi 4' the other night with steak I was seriously impressed. 2019 is a superb vintage in Tuscany, and along with, winemaker, Elena Pozzolini's increased understanding of their vineyard they have made wine that is extremely impressive. But it's the price that gets me. It has layers of complexity that unfurl in the glass, and after an hour or two of being open it's pretty unbeatable for a Bordeaux blend from anywhere in the world.
Yantra, is their house wine, and also has taken a step up in quality. There's a lot of wine in here. Like a big meaty St Estephe but this has a beautiful lightness of touch which makes it nuanced and very intriguing. It needs time to open up - so a good decant is helpful - and kept for 3 or 4 years, it should really be superb. But it will keep longer.
