£34 all those years ago, and yup, we've got the Swig list from 2007 to prove it! You have something really grand tasting here. Heavenly - smooth, gorgeous, a classy, mature red of very high quality with soft notes of bracken, orange peel and cocoa. A blend of Tempranillo with a touch of Cabernet and Merlot.. It will keep for a few more years, and expands and drinks well over 2 or 3 nights. N.B - this wine is nearly 20 years old! The corks are long and fragile - take care opening, and if the cork does break or crumble, panic not, it does not mean the wine is faulty! Use a sieve or muslin and pour carefully.
Back in 2004, we were served the first wine with morcilla (a Spanish black pudding) and a local cheese, and really couldn't believe the quality we were drinking. We continued with more wines over a lunch of lamb grilled over a fire of old vines. This was a treasure trove of the most delicious wines, and we couldn't wait to tell our customers. 15+ years on, we're even happier. It is the holy grail of wine-buying to find prime drinking, cellar-aged wines at an appealing price, and with the Valsardo wines, we really hit the jackpot!

“Made in an unusually restrained, traditional style at a time when Ribera del Duero's winemakers were going all out for big fruit and alcohol, this is now beautifully mature in a way few of its peers could match. An amazing savoury, elegant, hugely complex find.”The Observer's BEST BUY RED OVER £20 TOP 50 WINES FOR CHRISTMAS 2021, David Williams
