Or should that be Saint Nicola? Do you see what we did there? Ahaha haha ha... ah... hee... hey. Aherk herm. Sorry about that. Nicola Ferrari possibly warrants sainthood, though, for his transcendentally delicious Valpols, Ripassos and Amarones. Elegant, perfumed, with silky strawberry and cherry liqueur fruit and savoury, earthy notes, and a hint of that magical aroma of fine Amarone, this is a wine for your most luxurious dinner parties.
The most complete Ripasso Nicola has made yet and is probably one of the best expressions of the classical style today. The fruit floats in the mouth with the wee hint of bitterness that comes from the process soaking the wine on the skins of the just fermented Amarone grapes that adds just the right amount of tension and intrigue. While not being a big wine, there is plenty of flavour and complexity. It is wonderful now and one of my favourite drinks. But it will be super to drink over the next 3 to 6 years and a good value wine for cellaring.
FROM THE PRESS
“This Ripasso is, most-certainly, the wine with the highest ‘value ratio’ given that the flavour is astounding and the price, stubbornly, remains affordable! Of course, this is cause for great celebration because the extra dimension of flair and richness at the heart of this gorgeous Ripasso is sensational. While many wines of this style carry extra weight and darker fruit tones, this elite version parades red fruit and uncommon succulence. I absolutely love it and it fully deserves its gold medal score. 18.5/20”Matthew Jukes
