Here's something you don't often see from Mr Badenhorst! His tiny production, Ceres Plateau Pinot Noir. Delicately fruited, and almost Trousseau-like, with cherry fruit, hint of musk and roses and very fine tannins. Just 770 bottles produced, and only a few cases came to the UK
We firmly believe that Adi Badenhorst is the most exciting winemaker in South Africa. He is also the most frustrating. His laid back, self-deprecating, playful manner keeps you guessing and makes you wonder whether he has any idea what he is actually doing, whether he just chucks some grapes into a vat and hopes for the best, but we know full well that there is a huge amount of expertise that goes on behind closed doors, when no one is around to witness his skill and diligence ...and spoil his reputation!
FROM THE PRESS
“A rare excursion for Adi Badenhorst outside the Swartland, this Pinot Noir comes from the Ceres Plateau and combines two Burgundian clones: 667 and 777. Subtle, taut and grippy, with crunchy pomegranate and cranberry fruit and an echo of oak. Drink 2021-24”Tim Atkin MW
