You pick up the delightful hints of cranberry, redcurrants and wild roses. A beautiful drink. Delicious with a vegetable tart, salad, bbq fish and chicken. While you don't want to overthink rose, this one is actually quite sophisticated, with its texture, quite a gastronomic example of rose and a good one for drinking in the cooler months. The elegance of the fruit and texture makes us think of a rather stylish white wine as it floats in the mouth, and then you get the delicious notes of cranberry cut in.
There are few rosés anywhere in the world that can claim similar ancestry and certainly none at this price! From hand picked grapes that come from old bush vines on the Paardeberg mountain - an hour North West of Cape Town - home to some of the oldest vines in the Cape - the Cinsault vines were planted in 1957 - and fermented in old casks - this Rose receives the love of some considerably more expensive wines. Winemaker, Adi Badenhorst, actually puts a lot of care into the Secateurs, and sells it for less than its worth, to have a wine out there at a good price for us all to enjoy. We'll drink to that!
