About this Wine
Maximus is a sensational barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc for the price. It has a generous, rich feel, stone fruits, Cape Gooseberry, yet is elegant and long. This is a fabulous food wine that will be good with asian/spicy dishes and great with seafood. Could easily be another winery's luxury white at £25.
We loved our visit to Buitenverwachting, set in Constantia’s oldest and most prized vineyard, as much for the people as for its wines and beautiful setting. The ever-genial host and owner, Lars Maack, is always smiling. He is joined by Brad Paton, who is one of the most lovely and talented winemakers around, and the equally delightful, and wise-headed, Herman Kirschbaum, the previous cellar master who now oversees the vineyards.
