Tasting Notes
Exquisite finesse, fine flavours and fine mousse. Drinks rather like a very stylish wine. Generous lightly baked lemon with bright, red skinned apples, and a spritz of lemon peel dancing over the top. The palate has more of the same: but sweet with a hint of lime, lemon curd and pastry.
More Info
Brocard-Pierre is a small grower champagne house in southern Champagne, in the Aube, which is much closer to Chablis than it is to Reims and Epernay. Here, quite a few growers are turning Champagne on its head, making their Champagne more like individual cuvees of Burgundy, both in terms of bottling individual plots of terroir, rather than large blends of many vineyards, and elevage, the maturation in the cellar. L’Egarée, which means the lost one, is aged in barrels, which is a traditional technique but rare in Champagne. Winemaker, Thibaud Brocard, is a leading light for sustainable and organic farming.
