Tasting Notes

Pre-Arrival Offer - Due to be with us by late October£26 when 12 bottles (£312) - Use code CHAMP2£27.50 when 6 bottles (£165) - Use code CHAMP8    I honestly cannot imagine a more delicious mouthful of Champagne for this price and if I had to design Champagne perfection for under £35, this would be it. Citrus fruit, orange blossom mingling beautifully with baked apples and the mouth-watering scent of fresh bread and brioche. Really vibrant and well-balanced on the palate, with fabulous soft bubbles, bright acidity and long, savoury finish. So moreish! Great as an aperitif, with food, at a party and as a celebratory glass - it ticks all the boxes. Carte d'Or is kept in their cellar for 6 years before disgorgement. I cannot think of many white wines or red, that are kept in the cellar that long before release.

More Info

We were looking for a new Champagne that was good value, as we need it for restaurants we supply.  We adore Collard-Picard and there is pressure on the stock of the other house we bring in, Brocard-Pierre, which has become trendy, and deservedly so. Our colleague Kate Robinson told us to try Champagne Moutardier, a Champagne she used to enjoy selling for another merchant that no longer takes it. We got samples in and, wow! I thrust a glass into my wife's hand, as I couldn't believe how delicious it was. I met the brothers Wiliam and Simon in France in February, as it all seemed too good to be true. But the wine tasted just as good there. I dug a bit deeper and it turns out they're a serial recipient of the 'Coup de Coeur' for best Champagne of its type in their region. They've also been awarded the 'Young talents of Champagne for Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier' where the lead judge was the best sommelier in the world

FROM THE PRESS

“A stunning grower champagne full of baked apples, toast, brioche, citrus and cream thanks to six years on the lees. This is how fine champagne should be and how chic and in-the-know to serve it rather than one of the ubiquitous Grandes Marques, or supermarket fare”
Jonathan Ray - The Spectator
