There’s something magical about Beaujolais. I’m not sure whether it’s because it reached such tragic lows with the Nouveau fiasco or because it still feels undiscovered, but there is no doubt that some of the most exciting wines on the wine scene at the moment are coming out of Beaujolais.
This wine has all of the joy of Gamay (bright, red, juicy fruit) with that characteristic intensity of Chiroubles that comes across as a crack of black pepper. It’s scrumptious and so versatile – it will pair as well with a goats cheese and pepper salad as it will with a steak. The future is definitely Beaujolais!
