Fine citrus nose, pure on the palate with noteable finesse and line - with the fine elegance and slightly mineral, chalky bit of wines from Pouilly-Fume and Sancerre. I can imagine this being championed as an upmarket but well-priced and very well-chosen house wine at a top Michelin-restaurant or the Seafood Restaurant in Padstow.
About this Wine
It turns out this is a Pouilly-Fumé in all but name, as a few generations before, when the Appellation of Pouilly-Fumé was created, the family chose not to pay for all of their land that could be classified to be classified, as they were not growing vines on it at the time. A brilliant buy. Perfect for daily drinks, suppers and fish, as well as dinner parties, when you can regale your friends with the background of this wine.
