Gorgeous, organic full-flavoured Cava– ripe apples and apple crumble, croissant flakes, tonnes of flavour packed into every corner of the palate and lovely fresh sea spray finish. Just about as unmanipulated as you can get in terms of Cava, with much of the fruit sourced from one high elevation, old bushvine vineyard that is farmed organically and regeneratively. Two years on the lees, zero dosage and very low added sulphur too. Superb value considering the quality and care put in, and how very tasty it is too.
We tasted many a Cava recently, and Entre Vinyes Funambul Brut stood head and shoulders above all the others! Entre Vinyes was started from scratch in 2012 by Maria and Jose who took over some old vineyards in Foix park in Penedes. They've grown steadily since then, taking on more vineyards and producing a number of distinctive and delicious wines. At the heart of everything they do is a deep-rooted respect for nature, and their farming is second to none, with a similarly light hand in the cellar. These are "natural wines" for those who have been put off by stinky, cloudy or wild bottles. They're gorgeous wines, authentic, and jolly good value too.
