Tasting Notes
Delicious, biodynamic and off the beaten path - a Swig wine through and through! This has an intriguing scent of blueberry and ripe English strawberry mingling with notes of sweet spice and garrigue. A nice line of acidity lifts and brightens the ripe fruit so there is no heaviness here and the beautifully integrated velvety tannins add a nice subtle grip. Really interesting and utterly fabulous with rustic dishes like a chicken or vegetable casserole, a good old pork pie with all the trimmings or also something with a bit of a kick like a spicy beef burrito!
More Info
Domaine de L'Horizon is named after the spectacular views of both the Pyrenees and Mediterranean that can be seen from the beautiful limestone rich vineyards. Established in 2006 by Germany-born Thomas Teibert, this biodynamically farmed estate is located in the tiny plot of terroir heaven that is Calce, Roussillon. Thomas’s work in the vineyard is also fundamentally important. He works with specific parcels of vines, studying the variations of styles that each parcel creates as a Burgundian winemaker would do. From very early on in his career he has followed biodymamic principles, and has been certified by Biodyvin since the beginning. Everything is handpicked and only small crates are used to transport the grapes to the winery. To anyone who thinks that Roussillon is all about high alcohol and over-ripe fruit flavours, the freshness, precision and finesse of Thomas’s wines - both reds and whites - will come as a revelation.
