Tasting Notes
This is the first time Florpower has been produced as a fortified wine. It's a single vineyard, single vintage Manzanilla (essentially a Fino sherry, but aged in the cellars at Sanlucar de Barrameda), and a truly extraordinary sherry that shows it’s terroir quite like any other, the trademark of Equipo Navazos. 100% Palomino fortified from 12 to 15%, aged for 3 years in the same butts it was fermented in under flor. It's essentially the same wine as the once bottled Florpower 2016, but made up of lots they reserved and fortified then, aged as manzanilla, blended with some butts of the 2016 fortified later on, after ageing at the natural alcohol levels. It’s nutty (think toasted almonds), bitter oranges and a tiny hint of caramel. So intense, with that signature minerality and salinity. Stunning with manchego!
More Info
At the root of EQUIPO NAVAZOS is the conviction that the greatness of traditional Andalusian wines resides, first of all, in the vines. For years we have worked with the hypothesis that the winery’s terroir has a weight equivalent to that of the vineyard’s terroir. However we are increasingly convinced that, when the latter is excellent, it always makes its way to become the protagonist, regardless of the age of the wine and of the aging process to which it has been subjected: under veil, oxidative or as a common white wine; fortified or not; fermented in casks or in tanks.
