Tasting Notes
I tried this from barrel in the cellar a couple of years ago. I got butterflies in my tummy. There was something gorgeous about it; like I’d never had before from a South African Pinot Noir, with an aroma I associate with grand Pinot Noir, not just good Pinot Noir. There was something noble about the terroir coming through, with aromas and a texture that coalesced.

It tastes and feels complete, with a sense of luxury; the flavours and texture have melded to make a beautiful, moreish wine experience. Perhaps a bit like a full-bodied ripe Gevrey-Chambertin or Clos Vougeot. There are some really excellent Pinot Noirs coming out of South Africa, and the future is exciting. Some are lighter and fresher, with beautiful nuances. It’s hard to say that this is better than some others that are now being made - but this is the most enjoyable I’ve ever drunk.
