Nom stands for Nombulelo (gratitude in Xhosa) and Nomkhubulwane (a forgotten African goddess of agriculture) Situated at 700m altitude, the vineyard is a place where gratitude is instilled and tales appear.
Jessica Saurwein’s Nom Pinot grows more assured with every new vintage. Cotes de Nuits in style, from the mighty Kaaimansgaat vineyard in Elandskloof, this wonderfully complex pinot has intense aromatics, hints of orange rind, concentrated red berry and plum fruit, and a lick of wood spice.
FROM THE PRESS
“It has a clean, pure bouquet of morello cherry, raspberry and emerging hints of rose petal. The palate is well balanced with fine-grained tannin, nice edginess, sappy red berry fruit and a saline finish that lingers nicely. Around 2,000 bottles made – buy one.”Neal Martin, vinous.com
“If you want structure and focus in your Pinot Noir, Elandskloof is a very good place to start. Savoury, grippy and intense, this is a very smart red from Jessica Saurwein with spicy, herbal undertones, layers of red berry fruit and a fine, refreshing finish.”Tim Atkin MW
