An ultimate Swig "punches above its weight" sort of white, from young vines outside the perimeter of Pouilly-Fume and thus not classified. The 2020 is rather more ample than the 2019, but still rather lovely. White pepper on the nose, slightly smokey, struck-flint on the palate, with an opulence that would work so well with something like halibut and beurre blanc or pan-fried hake. Whipped mango pudding, a squeeze of lime, with a luscious finish and gentle tang.
Made by David Maudry, son of Patrick Maudry of Domaine de Fontenille, in Tracy-Sur-Loire, from vines directly next to their Pouilly-Fume vines. I tried it alongside their Pouilly-Fume and it was almost identical.
