If there is one single winemaker you could pinpoint as having the greatest influence on English wine’s upturn in quality, it would be Dermot Sugrue, producer of some of the finest English sparkling there is. The Trouble with Dreams is his very special solo project. A Champagne blend from two of Dermot’s favourite vineyards in East Sussex. Four years on lees before disgorgement in 2017. A wine as rare as it is thrilling.
I have just opened a bottle of this, and frankly, it's over the charts. We bought this wine two years ago and cellared it waiting for the day that it would be ready. Apart from being so very good in the first place it's the time it's had since disgorgement that makes it taste quite so brilliant and gorgeous now.
