Domaine de Brunet

As the Terrasses du Larzac continue to garner the respect they deserve, it’s inevitable that more people will take notice of these beautifully refined
wines. Geographically, we’re high in the hills to the north of Montpellier, above the long and winding river Hérault. This domaine was something of a
patchwork operation, segmented overthe years as inheritances split one estate into several. Now it is whole again, underthe control of brothers
Serge and Marc Coulet, the scions of a family that has owned the estate since the 18th century.Afterthe FirstWorldWar, this was the only
vinegrowing family to continue making its own wine. The rest went to the cooperative. This means that Brunet are, in a sense, the oldest
independent winery in the Terrasses du Larzac. And what wines they are. Far more refined than those from neighbouringPicSt Loup, these field
blends ofSyrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Carignan benefit from their altitude and the cold breezes that come down from the hills at night. There’s an elegance thatreminds the drinker ofBurgundy.
