Amid the Prosecco smile-inducing ocean of frizzante and spumante being churned out to meet the fizz-drinking public’s insatiable demand, Proseccos of distinction are not easy to come by. How does a producer distinguish himself from the crowd? Well, going organic certainly helps, but what separates La Jara from the other Proseccos out there is that fruit quality is absolutely paramount. Cited by Matthew Jukes as his favourite producer in the region, La Jara shows a pride in its product that is becoming all too rare in Prosecco. They adhere to the letter the requirements of the Prosecco DOCG tag, while their IGT offerings show a sense of fun without sacrificing quality. Their recent foray into still wines impressed us immediately.
