Tasting Notes

Just lovely! Cooked blueberries, cherry blossom, hot cross bun spice and crystallised violets with dark chocolate. The palate is juicy and succulent, with an irresistible balance between a silky, dark berry richness, and a sappy acidity which gives the wine such freshness and second-sip factor. Winemaker Benoit Aymard said that he wanted Les Polissons to be the kind of malbec you could drink while watching the footy, and he's accomplished it with aplomb.

More Info

Located in the western corner of Cahors in the village of Lacapelle-Cabanac, third-generation winemaker Benoit Aymard took over the reins of his small and slightly dilapidated family domaine in 2014. He enjoys drinking Gamay and Loire reds, and it's this freshness and drinkability that guides his decisions at harvest and in the cellar. Thus, Benoit focuses on emphasising the beautiful fruit that Malbec can offer and moving away from the more austere or over-extracted style Cahors and the grape is known for

FROM THE PRESS

“It’s juicy, jammy and surprisingly light on its feet at just 12.5 per cent vol, where the Cahors of old can easily go up to 15 per cent . Get those steaks on the barbecue!”
