Tasting Notes
Sourced from four sites in the valley, this is David's calling card Chardonnay, and what a beauty it is! This release sits at a real sweet spot for Russian river, 13.5% abv, meaning you have plenty of crispness and acidity to match the weight and texture. 19 months of concrete aging, so no oak involved, ensuring a juicy and bright Chard, that has texture, salinity and delightful length.
More Info
Throughout his career, David Ramey's wines have been some of the most sought-after in the world. Learning his craft from luminary Christian Moueix at Château Pétrus, his roots remained in California, and he returned home to put these techniques into practice. In his richly varied career, he has helped establish wineries that have become household names, including interstellar Napa institutions Dominus and Rudd Estate. Whilst still at Dominus, he produced his first wine in 1996 under his own label using fruit from the Hyde Vineyard, produced in partnership with his good friend and fellow Cali icon, John Konsgaard. Just over 20 years on, in an interview with Stephen Tanzer of Vinous, David is convinced that the wines he is making today are better than ever before and will age even more consistently and profoundly.
