Tasting Notes

With all fruit sourced from the Wairau Valley, this is a dainty Marlborough Pinot Noir with lots of those classic aromas of cherries and plums, with subtle oak adding spice and texture, and great length.

More Info

The Darling are organic wine pioneers in New Zealand. After making wine for other people for many years, winemaker Chris Darling and viticulturist Bart Arnst teamed up in 2007 to make great wines under their own label, working with select small and mostly family growers - all certified organic or biodynamic. Bart is a founding member of Organic Winegrowers of New Zealand, and previously worked for Seresin Vineyards, overseeing their conversion to organics. He left in 2005 to provide a consultant service to those interested in organic change and has worked closely with a large percentage of the New Zealand organic winegrower sector.

FROM THE PRESS

“As light and delicate as they come. Indeed, it’s so pale it’s almost a rosé. That’s not to say there isn’t character though, with all the typical fresh and sour cherry notes, crushed raspberries and whiff of game you might expect from fine Pinot along with the softest of tannins”
Jonathan Ray, The Spectator
