Tasting Notes
Rhubarb, cloudy lemonade and crushed rocks on the nose, and quite subtle in away, but then the palate really rides in with some serious va-va-voom and intensity. Charming orangey notes and wild roses, cherries, fresh herbs and even a little bit of mineral grip to the palate. The length is fantastic and it goes on and on, with real volume on the finish. The ageing sur lie with frequent stirring imbues the wine with fantastic texture. But be quick! Demand always exceeds supply.
More Info
Located in the rolling hills of Ancona in the Marche, on the eastern coast of Italy, La Calcinara is headed up by the high-spirited and talented Berluti siblings, Paolo and Eleonora. Even spending just 5 minutes with them, their energy, enthusiasm and love of wine is infectious. Their 12 ha of vines and olive groves are farmed organically, and winemaking is minimal intervention, with only very low additions of SO2 at bottling.
