Tasting Notes
Not strictly a white wine - made with skin contact, so a lovely pale amber. Chenin blanc 63%, Bukettraube 20%, Sauvignon Blanc 9% and Roussanne 8%. Griddled apricots, peach kernel and quince, as well as a hint of earl grey tea that with time in the glass becomes spicy and highly scented - stem ginger and candied pineapple, with a splash of lemon barley water on the palate. Gently chalky and long in the mouth, finishing with lots of ripe grapefruit. We can imagine it would be superb with crudo or ceviche - and a v good intro to skin contact wine overall.

We firmly believe that Adi Badenhorst is the most exciting winemaker in South Africa. He is also the most frustrating. His laid back, self-deprecating, playful manner keeps you guessing and makes you wonder whether he has any idea what he is actually doing, whether he just chucks some grapes into a vat and hopes for the best, but we know full well that there is a huge amount of expertise that goes on behind closed doors, when no one is around to witness his skill and diligence ...and spoil his reputation!
