My Wine of the Year - Digby Vintage 2013 - with a special mention for Althorne Estate Chardonnay
Wine of the Year Digby Vintage 2013
Buy at £38.25 down from £45
My wine of the year is Digby Fine English 2013. It was made by Dermot Sugrue, who used to make Wiston. I've poured it a lot in the last few months, and no other aperitif I have poured, including any Champagne, has resulted in such effusive remarks of delight. It won 'Sparkling wine of the Year' at the Wine GB awards both this year and last! That's after being tasted blind! It was awarded 'Supreme Champion' 2023. It beat Dom Perignon and Krug in a blind tasting conducted by the late Steven Spurrier, who conducted the greatest blind tasting of all time, known as 'The Judgement of Paris'. If you've not tried it yet, you should. If you've had this, it's an opportunity to buy it again at the offer price of £38.25. Digby have bottled some halves, which are £25 on offer.
Digby Brut NV is also superb at £29.75 (normally £35)
Winner of GOLD medals 2021 and 2022 (WineGB Awards) and a Decanter Platinum Award, and I love the pure, crisp, yet deep, and delicious qualities of this brilliant English sparkling wine.
