An extraordinary wine for the price. Nebbiolo's (the red grape of Barolo and Barbaresco) classic notes of cherry, red roses and spice. It's quite pale - which is typical of good Nebbiolo - telling us it's not been over extracted in the winery. The super flavours in this 2022 come straight from the vineyard. It's got a bit of chew, some bright cherry and wild strawberry and savoury spice, leather and cracked bracken on the nose that goes through to the palate, which has some lovely juice, but coated in tannins, but good ripe tannins, that help the flavours amplify with food.

This is an extraordinary wine for the price. We've looked for Nebbiolo (the grape that makes Barolo and Barbaresco) in the past and found that the good ones from well-sited vineyards are well into the £20 price bracket. The cheaper ones are a bit raw, because they come from northerly facing vineyards, or closer to the valley floor where the fog lingers, and the Nebbiolo grape, which needs plenty of ripening, doesn't get enough sun. This, on the other hand, does come from from well-sited vineyards - within a few hundred meters of the eastern slopes of Barbaresco.
