Tasting Notes
Winemaker Alberto Crissante is thrilled with his 2019. "A very expressive year, like 2018, but with more conentration." This is only the second release of Crissante Commune wine, which sees fruit sourced mostly from the Contrada Roggeri vineyard, and the reminder from the vineyards of San Biagaio and Betolotti where the soils have more sand, adding a lovely lift and fine aromas to the Barolo. "Crushed red berry, mint and and macerated cherry all grace this understated classically austere Barolo." Antonio Galloni, Vinous
More Info
Alberto Alessandria is the eight generation owner and winemaker at Crissante Alessandria, a charming family owned winery in the hamlet of Santa Maria, near La Morra. The family previously sold all of their grapes to large cellars in the local area, and began producing their own wines in the late 50s. Alberto took over the estate a few years ago and has been working quietly to improve the wines. Their 6a ha of vines are all within 80m of the winery, including sites in the prime communes of Capalot, Roggeri and Galina.
