Tasting Notes
A boutique organic producer that's been getting the top ratings on Jancis Robinson for several years. "Beguiling, perfumed red-fruit and oak nose with a white-pepper note. Plenty of concentration. Lots of juice and perfumed raspberry and cherry with fine gravelly supporting tannins all the way through but never overpowering the fruit. Should be allowed more age but is already irresistible. Simply gorgeous. So juicy, gripping and fresh. A must buy. (WS)" - Jancis Robinson.com

Cupano released their first vintage in 2001. It was knock out. The late Lionel Cousin and his wife Ornella Tondini, bought this piece of virgin land, in SW Montalcino, in Camigliano. It had never ever been farmed with chemicals, and they kept it that way. We started importing the wine from the 2001 vintage, after pouring the last drop from the bottle, and thinking it was amazing; the best wine in the room. The wine is now made by Andrea Polidoro, who worked with Lionel for quite a few years, from whom he learned the art of tending the vine, and making and blending wine. There is never much of this wine go round these days. Little is produced, and this wine is so much loved, that once encountered, people tend to buy it each year.
