Tasting Notes
Just 1840 bottles produced of this wine, and a couple of hundred magnums, this particular Amarone is from the Purano vineyard, a very special site that Nicola shares with Allegrini. Planted on limestone, at a higher elevation than his own vineyards with ancient tree-like vines, although this wine is mostly from vines around 35 years. You get the most brilliant clarity and depth in the wine thanks to these soils. As Robin says, a very Bepe style wine! Aged for 5 years in oak, and a further year in bottle pre-release, unhurried, so as to allow optimal complexity and balance.

Monte Santoccio's fabulous new releases have coincided with some brilliant press for all of the wines. They are at a new level, with greater clarity, and layers of fruit, although still with their trademark finesse and elegance; a reflection of Nicola Ferrari's 13 years making wine with the late, legend of Amarone and Valpolicella, Giuseppe Quintarelli. The cellar was built a few years ago, and this has helped, along with a portion of grapes that come from the ancient vineyard they rent in Purano, a hamlet, even higher than where they are, atop Fumane. Your support and belief in these wines has encouraged and helped Nicola Ferrari, and Laura, his wife, to be able to elevate the quality to where they are today. Genuinely, they are grateful for the belief we've all had in them, and that we've been able to pay them up front over the years, has helped them immensely. So, thank you. They will welcome you for a visit to their home.
